Gertrude was born on March 14th, 1925 in Kellin, Germany. Gertrude's father was Friederich Ferdinand Hermann Schwedler and her mother was Maria Voss. Her paternal grandparents were Ferdinand von Schwedler and Anna Andrea von Schwedler. She has four brothers and a sister, named Ferdinand, Friederich, Werner, Alos. and Annamarie. She is the third youngest of the six children.-
